22. 10. 2005 Finland is the first ever European Mixed Champion!
At the inaugural event held at the Palau de Gel at Canillo, Andorra, where 23 nations were represented, the Finnish foursome Markku Uusipaavalniemi, Kirsi Nykänen, Teemu Salo and Tiina Kautonen won the gold medal! The silver medal went to the team of Sweden followed by team Germany, which was awarded the bronze medal.
The event proved to be extremely popular both for spectators and players! The 2006 edition of the European Mixed Curling Championships (EMCC) will be held at Claut, Italy, former host of the University Games. The dates of the 2006 event are still to be announced.
