12. 12. 2008 ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK, SWEDEN

Today, after the final games in the B-group the first medals and trophies were awarded at European Curling Championships 2008 at Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. The Finnish men beat Italy in their final with 9-2 and the Norwegian women beat Finland in the final by 9-3.

All four teams (Men: FIN and ITA, Women: NOR and FIN) will move up to the A-group for next year’s ECC 2009 at Aberdeen, Scotland. Both gold medallists will now have a chance to still qualify for their respective World Curling Championships 2009 by winning the best-of-three world challenge games that will still start today.

In that world challenge the Finnish Men will meet the Swedish Men, whereas the Norwegian women will have to face the English women.
