ECF BOARD MEETING AT MUNICH

board_july_2011

July 5, 2011

Minutes from ECF Executive Board meeting on July 2 and 3, 2011 at Munich, Germany

At its recent meeting on July 2 and 3, 2011 at Munich, Germany, the ECF Executive Board discussed respectively agreed the following:

ECF President

The ECF Executive Board has recognized the resignation of the President, Mr Andrew Ferguson-Smith for personal reasons. The Board feels sorry for his decision, but at the same time wants to thank him for his services to the ECF and European curling. The Board wishes Andrew Ferguson-Smith all the best for his future as well as good health.

The Executive Board has also confirmed that Mr. Olli Rissanen is now the acting President of the ECF, and the unanimous recommendation of the Board is that Mr. Rissanen would continue to do so until the next scheduled elections in December 2012.

However, as this current situation is not clearly regulated in the ECF constitution, the Board feels it fair and right towards the Member Associations that the President´s vacancy (for one year) will be officially confirmed in an election at the Annual General Meeting of the ECF in Moscow, Russia in December 2011. According to the Constitution the Member Associations may also nominate other candidates for this vacancy.

ECF Mission

The ECF Executive Board has unanimously agreed to recommend to the next Annual General Meeting that the following mission statement be adopted to the ECF constitution:

MISSION of the European Curling Federation:
To unite Member Associations throughout Europe and uphold the interests of European curling.

This will be achieved by:

  • Conducting annual European Curling Championships.
  • Working with partners, especially the World Curling Federation, to inform and encourage the development and promotion of Curling throughout Europe.

Champery Curling Center of Excellence

The ECF will at its earliest convenience issue a separate statement on this subject.
